First Ever Blog: Introduction

Story design by my son
February 3, 2022

Hello, new readers and old friends. For those who don’t know me, I am a cartoon illustrator only now venturing into the new territory of YA Fantasy author. Though my drawing career stretches back to high school, my dreams of publishing literature has been just as long. Ever since I could imagine, stories and ideas played around in my head.

As a cartoonist, my story-telling imagination was whimsical drawings with talking bubbles. The visual narrative for the tale was part-illustration and part-wording.

Fully written and illustrated children’s books were created, yet I did not, or could not, publish them. A commissioned job by our local baseball club was my first published works. I was asked to create the story of how a legendary lake creature became the baseball team’s mascot.

My craziest attempt at writing/illustrating was a very bold/blunt story. It was about Home Birth. Actual books were printed, but few got out to the public.

I had many other stories-into-book ideas. The idea of a whole novel seemed way out of my league. However, with the push of a friend and some actual experiences to form a plot, I began to write. I don’t have the true dates of this, but according to some notes, it took me four months to put together a 300-page story. Not bad for my first try.

Here’s a fun fact: I am writing this very first blurb sitting in the same location where I began the writing of Initiation Dream. The cafe was then called Uncommon Ground, here in Burlington, Vermont. The title back then was to be Colin Trask and the Wolf Shifters.

So, please take a look at my non-illustrated book. Keep following this thing called a “blog”.  Do stay in touch!
