Marc Hughes is an author and cartoon illustrator who has written and designed children’s books and activity books. He wrote the story about how a local lake monster became a baseball celebrity, helped with the creation of a jolly monk named Ned, and illustrated a fun kid’s book about a day in his life, plus just finished drawing and laying out a graphic novel about the importance of plankton on our planet.
Initiation Dream is Marc’s first novel. It all came together after his own vivid dream, a family reunion and the insistent push of an artist friend telling him to just write ideas down for a book. He also wrote this fantasy adventure because of a long-time love of wolves and the American Indian culture. .

A Very Grateful Endosement…
Your book was very well written, it definitely keeps you on edge wondering what is going to happen next. I did enjoy how the ending of the book explained what was written in the beginning. Only someone who has read the book would understand. You wrapped everything up very nicely.
Thank you,

Imagine yourself being the six-foot-one freshman who is known throughout the school for being clumsy, a bit odd looking, a heavy advocate for animal rights and one of the few vegetarians. Now imagine yourself just finding out that you are part American Indian, but that it comes with a little extra “inheritance”. You quickly learn that this big family secret is quite trivial after the vivid dream of the wolf jumping into your body.
Colin Trask’s average life in Cochran, Vermont changes forever after his “Initiation Dream”. He is now learning about shaman magic, how to control emotions, how to control a six-foot-nine body and what his favorite meat-dish is. He is also informed that he is the next tribal leader and must prepare for an inevitable fight between his pack and an army of vengeful wolves. He must learn all this quickly if he and his tribe members are to win this battle.
